Real Beauty

Amidst the push for the nation to essentially get skinnier and healthier, sometimes things may get taken a tad too far … or become defeating, if efforts aren’t instantly visible. However, in my humble opinion, health relies on more than just your physical appearance. True health and real beauty require that you not only treat your body right, but your mind and soul too. And if something isn’t perfect—accept, learn, and grow.
Hence, the below video, Onslaught, from Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. I just LoVe the message of this video! I came across it today on YouTube and had to share. Even though it’s a few years old, the message is still relevant. So, if you haven’t seen it, push play!
What’s the most disturbing thing to you in the video?
Mine=the unneeded surgeries and the fact that we need ads like this!
But, rock on Dove, you’re awesome!

I say goodbye to fad diets, bogus "fat-burning" pills, and processed, non-food food. And, I smile hello to a healthifying lifestyle full of fruits, veggies, and whole grains, sweaty workouts, the occasional "chocolate fix," sleep, family and friend time, and quality "me time" with a focus on health. I look forward to your comments and thoughts as the posts healthify on by!

I love the Dove videos. They always send such a good message. Have you seen the one that shows how photoshopped models get? That’s a good one too. This whole video is just really disturbing, and so sad because it truly does speak the truth.
Yes indeedy I’ve seen it! Love that one too! I wrote a little something on that one too awhile ago. What can I say? I can’t get enough of the Dove! They really are great videos.
I loved that video!!! True beauty is so much more than what the make-up and fashion industries push! And I’m glad that you agree that good nutrition should be about good health first and foremost, not about being skinny.
You are beautiful Corinne-body mind and soul!!
I’m so glad you posted that – I would’ve never seen it otherwise. What a wonderful message on a focus more people need to adopt. Love it
Oh wow, this is fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing this video. I just can’t believe how awful our society has become when it comes to obsessing over weight, wrinkles, cellulite, EVERYTHING. It’s actually starting to have an effect on ME more than I ever thought I could imagine. I have now stopped reading magazine and I FF through all commercials. The effect may not be noticeable, but subconsciously these ads really are SO harmful. I love Dove
